The Sunlight Project

Welcome to what I've coined "The Sunlight Project," a still unfinished series where I explore the other side of all this suffering. The light at the end of the tunnel, I suppose, where I let myself be happy and healed. This idea came about after an airport conversation with a friend. We talked about the trauma and the pain we've experienced, and then shared how creating in our respective mediums has helped us through unbearable darkness. He is a brilliant musician and composer, and in his pieces, I heard sunlight. After a full day of my brain shouting the word SUNLIGHT at me over and over, I decided I'd better make some paintings about it. I asked friends to send me photos of sunshine streaming in through windows, through leaves, water, anything that shows the contrast between light and shadow. I picked up my brush and thus The Sunlight Project began. Since this is still largely conceptual and in progress, please enjoy these poems of sorts to accompany each painting.
